Actually, before ...
Actually, before the 2nd world war, the original "foxtrot" was quite similar to today's American foxtrot--1930s music like Fred Astaire was sung faster, called "society tempo", and the old "foxtrot" steps were similar to today's Quickstep (back then Quickstep was called "fast foxtrot"), but danced slower.

American foxtrot is equivalent to Rhythm Dancing in England. See people doing this in "The English Patient" to Astaire's "Cheek to Cheek".

What a stupid ...
What a stupid remark. She's a fine teacher and you're getting this for free! You should apologize to her here for your appalling conduct.

Of course you'd be ...
Of course you'd be laughed off European dance floors. You can't do this to techno music while holding a cigarette, frowning, and saying something silly about capitalism.

American "social" foxtrot is heavily influenced by the stylings of Fred Astaire. Google that name if you never heard of him.
