Dance Lessons?
i want to take dance lessons (hip hop) and compete with others.
but how much is it?
and like would i start out in like a beginners class(with other beginners?) and then go up form there?
or will i go in the same age group and start with the people that have been there for years and that are really good?
where i go, you either pay per session or per class. you save a little money paying for the whole session (a few months) but you have to pay it all at once. an hour long class once a week is about $14 a class. although the studio i go to is cheaper than other ones nearby, it probably won’t cost too much more than this.
as for the age/level, it all depends on the studio. where i go, for hiphop, we have a 10 and under group and a 10 and up group. the 10 and up group is split into beginner and advanced. we don’t have a lot of kids at the studio though so there isn’t really a system to how the classes are split. it all depends on the type of dance you do. at my friend’s studio, they split all the classes up by age and within that they do it by ability. it all depends on where you go really but in most cases, unless you go to a relativly small studio like me, you will be with kids your own age and level. don’t stress though if you’re with little kids or advanced ones that are your age. if you’re with the little kids, they’ll move you up to kids your own age when you’re ready. if you’re with the advanced ones, you will catch up eventually.
best of luck!

i believe it goes by levels of expertise (beginner, advanced, etc.)

At my studio you dont compete in hip hop until you have over 5 years of experiance and even then you prolly wont get in……….(the competition group)
We have classes based on age groups and most times its a mix of new and old students…so if you prolly wont be the best there……
